Kevin McNiven |
|
Kevin McNiven was born and raised in Western Wyoming. He has spent his lifetime riding the mountains and ranges of Wyoming. As a kid growing up, he was always surrounded by music - cowboy music. His father, "a true horseman," taught Kevin to yodel - for yodeling is a cowboy tradition.
Kevin found at a young age that if you were a good horseman you could get a job with outfitters and ranches in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. If you could sing and play guitar around the campfire at night to entertain the guests you could pick the outfit you wanted to work for.
From his experiences, Kevin has released three compilations of music about "cowboy life" the Wyoming Division of Tourism deems truly authentic.
Kevin's recording appropriately titled, "It's Wyoming," was recorded in Nashville. The great love songs, yodels, and sweet laments make it just the kind of music one would hear around the campfire.
Kevin is known as Wyoming's Singing Ambassador. Associated with the Wyoming Department of Tourism, Kevin travels promoting the "Cowboy" state.
Kevin's second album, "Horseman, Roughstock & Rawhide," and latest release, "A Song Takes Flight," continue the tradition of strong expression, impeccable enunciation, and heart-felt emotion that place Kevin in a class all his own.
At the Western Music Festival in Tucson, Arizona, Kevin was awarded the Adult Male Yodeling Championship in 1998 and 2001.
In 1999, Kevin toured the Scandinavian countries of Europe. Kevin opened the 2000 World's Fair in Hanover, Germany. He continues traveling throughout the United States performing his "Cowboy Concerts & Western Family Shows" through story and song based on personal experience.
Kevin makes his living operating Wyoming Country Outfitters, subleasing his string of horses to ranches, wagon trains, re-enactments, commercials and movies. They include: Chevy Outdoors, Levi, Bailey Hats and WahMaker Clothing. PBS's Trail of Hope, History Channel's Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, National Geographic's Lewis & Clark, The Great Platte River Road Archway Monument, Far & Away, Geronimo, Return to Lonesome Dove, The Postman, Wind River, The Work & the Glory, The Patriot and Shadowheart, just to mention a few.
Kevin is a "true horseman" and handles "all things horses" at America's Cowboy. |

From applying beef cattle genetics in Nebraska, to researching Agricultural Policy in Washington, D.C., to consulting an International Agribusiness firm in Ireland, Travis McNiven is proactive in the agricultural fields of science, policy and business. Born and raised at the base of the Wind River Mountains near Lander, Wyoming, Travis began his climb up the agribusiness ladder early. Always the agricultural entrepreneur, Travis's parents tolerated his early business ventures of chickens, rabbits, goats and dogs before expanding to sheep, pigs and cattle in Future Farmers of America (FFA).
At age 14, Travis moved to Mesa, Colorado. There he assisted with management of 350 commercial and 25 purebred cows. This two year experience solidified his interest in the beef industry. Returning to Wyoming, Travis started Rocky Mountain Gelbvieh with 10 cows, lots of energy and his first bank loan. Rocky Mountain Gelbvieh is now a registered seedstock business providing consultation in management, marketing, genetic selection, order buying, grazing systems and crossbreeding programs for clients.
After serving a two-year LDS mission in Australia, Travis enrolled at Utah State University. While enrolled, Travis served two years as President of the College of Agriculture Student Ambassadors, Vice-President of the USU Cattle Club, two terms on the Wyoming Gelbvieh Association's Board of Directors, expanded Rocky Mountain Gelbvieh and worked for doctors Randy Wiedmeier and Don Snyder in the Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Sciences and Economics Departments, respectively. Travis graduated Magna Cum Laude, majoring in Animal Science with minors in Political Science and Agribusiness. While attending USU, Travis received more than 15 scholarly awards and honors (in addition to publishing manuscripts).
Never one to pass up an opportunity, Travis accepted an internship in the sand hills of Nebraska his senior year. There he gained a wealth of knowledge concerning management and genetics while working the 700 head seedstock herd of the Rex Ranch, owned by Farm Management Corporation (FMC), the largest commercial cattle owner in the United States.
Following, Travis gained valuable policy experience in domestic and international agribusiness while working for Wyoming Senator Mike Enzi in Washington D.C. His experience there led him to pursue additional education overseas.
Accepted into the International Masters of Business Administration in Food and Agribusiness at the Royal Agricultural College in England, Travis graduated and returned to the United States with his MBA to perform market entry research and consultation services for TraceAssured, an International Agribusiness firm based in Ireland.

Patty McNiven |
|
The hub of America's Cowboy is Patty McNiven. From feeding horses in winter to managing last minute preparations back-stage, Patty keeps America's Cowboy ticking. You won't find Patty in the spotlight, but her efforts shine through her children and husband wherever they go.
Born in Blythe, California to John & Evelyn Irene, Patty moved to Lander, Wyoming in 1962. In high school she competed on the girls swim and track teams. Growing up Patty dreamed of marrying a cowboy. In 1977 she met her future husband, Kevin, and were later married that same year. Since then she has been living her dream supporting Kevin.
In their early years of marriage, Patty assisted Kevin on pack trips as the cook. Early mornings would find her making preparations and accommodations for guests. Later, as the family began to grow, those preparations moved to their home to support the needs of a growing family.
To assist her family with their many activities, Patty home schools her children. She also serves in her church and is the precinct committee chairwoman for her voting district. She manages many aspects of daily business and is the glue that keeps the family united.
Other activities Patty enjoys are gardening, photography and traveling with her family. Her greatest satisfaction comes from watching and assisting her children as they reach their goals.
When America's Cowboy takes the stage there is one person who takes a back seat. But to her family, Patty is on stage every day. |
